**PRESS RELEASE** Georgia STAND-UP Joins Nationwide Effort to Register Georgians on National Voter Registration Day
Atlanta, Georgia – On September 19, 2023, Georgia STAND-UP will unite with a vast coalition of partners nationwide to observe National Voter Registration Day. In this concerted democracy mobilization, the focus is on ensuring that every eligible American is registered to vote, which is especially crucial given that approximately 190,000 registered voters recently experienced removal from the voter rolls due to their 'inactive' status (The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Sept 12, 2023). This initiative takes on heightened importance as it anticipates critical local elections and the eagerly awaited 2024 presidential primaries. Registering Georgians is crucial to rectifying this situation, as it underscores the fundamental principles of our democracy: inclusivity, representation, and civic participation. Georgia STAND-UP’s unwavering commitment to civic engagement has translated into tangible actions that have significantly impacted the community. Through a series of voter registration drives, educational campaigns, and grassroots initiatives, Georgia STAND-UP has played a pivotal role in empowering Georgia residents to exercise their right to vote. The organization's efforts have not only increased voter registration numbers but have also fostered a culture of active citizenship, ensuring that voices are heard in local, state, and national elections. Georgia STAND UP advocates for every eligible citizen to have the option to exercise their right to be heard at the ballot box. By strategically focusing on public transit stations and other accessible locations, Georgia STAND-UP makes voter registration more accessible for Georgians, streamlining the process of registration, resource access, and vital information dissemination. Across Metro Atlanta, Georgia STAND-UP actively conducts voter registration campaigns at public transit sites, ensuring maximum convenience for Georgians to participate in the democratic process.
