APS Demographics Meeting

Dear Kirkwood & East Lake Neighbors,

Now is the time for our respective communities to come together for a greater cause:  the education of our children. Atlanta Public Schools is in the process of evaluating all schools in the district and proposing school closures, re-districting, and creation of new schools to address under-utilization and over-crowding.  Changes proposed at the elementary, middle, AND high school levels WILL have a direct and significant impact on our neighborhoods.

Our aim is to promote the best outcome for all Atlanta Public School students in this process and ensure we are heard.  We need to stand together and demand quality leadership from the Board and in our schools, quality teachers for our children, ongoing training for our teachers and innovation from APS. For far too long, APS has not been accountable to our communities. Our children and our communities deserve APS' recognition, respect, and attention. It is crucial that we stand together and make our voices heard. The new maps for rezoning will be released this week. We need your involvement and attendance at several upcoming meetings.  It is imperative we participate in numbers and in unity. Other neighborhoods are literally pushing us to the side with their participation numbers and passion for their community schools. YOU cannot continue to let this happen. YOU cannot allow this to happen. We need your presence, your passion and your participation during this critical time. It doesn't matter if you do or do not have children; if you live in the East Lake/Kirkwood community, this affects you.

Three meetings that we urge you to attend are:
